At the end of the 1950s, Roger Picard, being a mayor of Berru city in Champagne planted vines on parcels of land that had just been granted the Champagne appellation label. At the beginning of the 1960s, Jacques Picard, the father of the current winemakers created his own business and produced the very first bottles of champagne under his name. Champagne Jacques Picard was born. This champagne maison are both owners and winegrowers, which means that the whole production process takes place on their land, with their own grapes, which is not as common practice in champagne region, as it may seem.
